Just as this invitation was being prepared, the world learned the shocking news of the terrible earthquake that has devastated the city of L'Aquila and the surrounding region. The toll in human lives, property and artistic patrimony is still being assessed but is sure to mount in the coming days. As a small token of our solidarity, a portion of the proceeds of this event will be held by the Foundation to benefit relief efforts in the Abruzzo.

This year, a group of University Club members, who are fellow confreres and consoeurs of the Savoy Orders, have arranged for Savoy Orders members and friends of the Savoy Orders to dine at The University Club’s renowned, regularly scheduled Wednesday night seafood buffet dinner in the Main Dining Room, which the Club has for all its members and guests. It will undoubtedly provide for a unique dining experience. Located in the heart of Manhattan in a palatial Renaissance Revival building designed by architects McKim, Mead and White, the Club is famous for its superior cuisine and magnificent public rooms. I hope that you will be able to join us the evening of May 13^th.

Because of this new venue and in keeping with this novel approach, which I am sure you will enjoy, we are not sending formal printed invitations but enclose a reservation notice.  It would be most gratifying to receive a strong attendance and support from the members of the Savoy Orders and our esteemed friends by May 1. Please take the time now to complete the accompanying reservation form and return it together with your check. Please feel free to forward this email to your family and friends who might wish to join you for this festive occasion.
